In two days, the team that changed March Madness forever will attempt to invade the DAC, to take on a Dragons squad that is rapidly improving by the day.
Coach Zach Spiker – who roams the Drexel sideline like the guy in your office who’s had way too much coffee and high fives you on the way to the bathroom – has made it clear that we fans can have a material impact on the outcome of critical games like this one against UMBC on Saturday.
It’s the holiday season. There’s a ton going on. It’s cold as balls. Traffic on 76 sucks. Parking, oh the parking. So why not make a day out of it?
Behold, your Saturday December 8.
PREGAME 1PM – 2PM
Park in the Drexel garage and walk across the street to Landmark at the DAC. They’ve been running their happy hour specials pre-game, which means $3 Hamms pounders and $3 Soco/Lime shots to relive your glory days.
GAMETIME 2PM – 4PM
This game is huge. UMBC made history last season by becoming the first #16 seed in history to upset a #1 seed (Virginia) while launching their snarky Twitter persona into stardom. Drexel has been on the upswing, with a stud freshman point guard (Cam Wynter) and a skilled Euro-big (Alihan Demir) you need to see in person.
POSTGAME 4PM – 6PM
FREE meter parking on Saturday afternoons in Philly, so get down to Christmas Village, which spans from City Hall to Love Park, includes a ton of shops, kids’ activities, and photo ops for the Gram to make your friends jealous.
DINNER 6PM – 8PM
Forget cheesesteaks, here’s where the cool kids are eating in Center City these days: Double Knot, Harp and Crown, Little Nona’s, Bud and Marilyn’s, and Lolita.
DRINKS 8PM – 10PM
Yes, there is a holiday themed bar in Philly. Tinsel is a spectacle worth checking out. Snow globe cocktails to celebrate a Dragons’ win? Yes please.
